One Month Old

August 2018

Wow! One month old already! We had a wonderful first month with baby Cecilia. When we named her, we were thinking of using the nicknames Cece or CJ, but so far we mostly just call her Cecilia. At first, when Adrienne said her name it sounded like "cereal", but she moved on quickly to the correct pronunciation. Now that she has been here for a while, Adrienne has started to call her "Celia". I guess time will tell if her full name or a nickname is what sticks.

Cecilia's favorite activity for her first month has definitely been sleeping. She is an amazing sleeper and we have been lucky to have her already sleeping most of the night. She takes long naps during the day and wakes only to eat and play for a couple of hours. I know this phase will go by fast and we are all excited to interact with her more as she wakes up for longer periods of time. Most of my pictures of her this month were when she was sleeping.

Cecilia had a lot of visitors this month. We are so lucky to have such supportive and helpful family and friends. Grammy has been staying with us for most of this first month which has been extremely helpful as we adjust to our new family of four. Here is Cecilia with some of her visitors.

Grammy

Grandmama

Aunt Amy, Cousin Sam and Cousin Annie Lou (Uncle Chris came too)

Lauren

Boppa

Aunt Maggie

The person who has been the most excited for our new baby has definitely been Adrienne. She is always asking "Where's Celia?" and she wants to snuggle her all the time (sometimes a little too much). We laugh because most of the time an Adrienne snuggle means a scream from Cecilia. Adrienne loves her so much and has only had a few moments of jealousy so far. She has adjusted to her new role as a big sister much better than we anticipated. We love seeing them start to interact and to see Cecilia start to watch Adrienne.

As you can hear, Cecilia has quite the cry! Even the nurse at her first doctor appointment commented on it. Even though she will probably hate us one day for saying this, we joke that she is just like the classic "screaming goat" youtube video. She will be completely quiet one second and then let out a random loud scream out of nowhere.

It was a month that we will never forget. I am so grateful to be able to spend another month at home with Cecilia before returning to work. More Cecilia pictures below because we just can't get enough!

Introducing Cecilia June Leask

August 2018

She is finally here! Cecilia June Leask was born July 21, 2018 at 8:11 AM. She weighed 8 pounds exactly and was 20 inches long.

With Adrienne, I had to be induced early so this was going to be my first time going into labor naturally. I didn't know what to expect. Around dinner time I started to feel something but it wasn't too bad so I figured we could wait until the next day. At 3 o'clock in the morning I realized the contractions were coming 6-8 minutes apart. The doctor told us to wait for 5 minutes apart, but being that we live an hour from the hospital, we decided to leave right then. It was a good thing that we did! We arrived at the hospital at 4AM and Cecilia was born just about four hours later! It was a super smooth birth with zero complications. We are so fortunate that Cecilia was born healthy and that all of the doctors and nurses were so amazing.

Ready to deliver!

Leaving the hospital

Adrienne has been all about Cecilia since she came home. She loves to give her snuggles and tell her "It's okay Cecilia". Adrienne has also been acting a lot more like a baby and definitely needing some extra snuggles from us too. We will see how she reacts when Baby Cecilia starts to be able to grab her toys!

Cecilia's first week at home has flown by. She is definitely a night owl and stays up most nights until about 2 or 3. Hopefully we can get that corrected before Mommy has to go back to work in October! Cecilia is a great eater and hasn't been a very fussy baby. She is slowly beginning to open her eyes more and loves to just look around her room and seems to like quiet spaces.

We Bought A House!

June 2018

After years of saying "We really should buy a house", with our second baby on the way we finally decided to take the plunge! We started house hunting way back in January and finally closed on our house in June. We looked at about 20 houses and put offers on two other homes. The housing market is super competitive and both of those houses had multiple offers to unfortunately we were rejected. It all worked out though because we finally had an offer accepted on our home in Williamston! We have been here for over a month now and absolutely love it. We are so excited to raise our girls here and create many memories!

The house has a "Free Little Library". We have enjoyed watching people stop by and pick out/drop off books!

So glad we got the house before the baby came! We had just enough time to settle in a bit.

The house is about 100 years old. This is what it used to look like before the previous owners completely gutted and remodeled the house.

Last photo of our family of three!

Adrienne (and Bruce) have been enjoying having a backyard finally. We have spent a lot of time running in the sprinkler and playing in the water table! It has been an extremely hot summer!

We took the move as an excuse to also move into a "Big Girl Bed".

Williamston has a really cute little playground about a 10 minute walk from our house. Adrienne absolutely loves it.

Williamston has weekly summer concerts. Adrienne got some energy out at the Celtic concert!

Living closer to Lansing, we decided to try out the Potter Park Zoo. Adrienne loved the peacocks the most and also enjoyed feeding the Budgies.

We celebrated Fourth of July by watching the parade in Brighton. I had no idea how great their parade was! Adrienne got to see a lot of her favorite Disney characters and got piles of candy. She is still talking about it almost a month later!
