Where to even start??? Somehow throughout all of summer and early fall I have not had a chance to update this family blog. Life has been super busy now that school has started and finding the time is quite difficult. The last post was from Easter which seems like a lifetime ago. Here are some highlights from summer and the last few months!
- We went to the Detroit Zoo and the John Ball Zoo this summer. Adrienne enjoyed watching the bears and loved when a peacock came right up to her!
- Adrienne is all about playgrounds right now. It was such a HOT summer that we didn't get to go as often as I would have liked. Now that it is finally cooling down we plan to make a lot more trips!
A video with Grammy. We loved our Grammy and Grandpa visits!
- Throughout the summer we went on several trips to Cadillac. Spending time with Gramma "Ama" and Boppa is a favorite for all of us. Adrienne enjoyed playing in the grass with her cousin Henry, playing in the water/sand table, running around the new splashpad downtown, and of course, taking a bath in a pot 😉. One day I know we are going to look at that pot and not understand how she ever could have fit in it.
- We went on a summer trip to Josh's family cabin on Lake Huron. Lots of memories were made including watching a movie by the water (until the bugs chased us away) and playing a hilarious card game for parents (I can't remember the name of it, Sarah help!)
- Adrienne had a brain scan to check for seizure activity. She has had a few minor tics since she was about 3 months old. The brain scan came back normal and the tics have since faded! So grateful.
- This summer we went on several trips to the Kensington Farm. Adrienne loved mooing at the cows and waving to the pigs. We also spent some time on the trails at the park. I can't wait until she is old enough to feed the birds out of her hand. I used to love doing that when I was younger!
- Adrienne is obsessed with everything "Moana". She started watching it at the beginning of summer and has probably seen the movie 30 times by now (and so have Mama and Dada. Luckily, we enjoy it too). She screams with joy when she hears a song from the movie come on Pandora. She loves her Moana book and doll. Below is a video of her dancing to a Moana song this morning.

- The end of summer signaled the time to go back to work. It was bittersweet because while I love my time with Adrienne, I also love being in the classroom. I moved grades and rooms this year so it was a big job and is going to be a busy school year.
- I am so excited and honored to be in the upcoming wedding for Lauren Gallinger and Brian Lee! Lauren was my maid of honor and I am so excited to help her celebrate her special day and marriage to a fantastic person! She had such a cute way to ask me to be in the wedding. I feel lucky to call her my friend!
- Sadly, Adrienne no longer likes to be in her baby carrier 😢 . She wants to walk and run everywhere. It is sometimes quite a battle in parking lots to get her to stay in our arms. Below is a video of her demonstrating how she knows the difference between "running" and "walk" (she likes to tell us when she is running by screaming "running!")
- Adrienne is learning new words like "smile", "yawn", "laugh", and surprised.
- Bruce is such a gentle pup with Adrienne. I still wouldn't say that he is in love with her, but he does let her crawl all over him and he does enjoy when she eats snacks. It usually means he gets half the bowl.
- I still try to take a picture of Adrienne in her chair every so often. It is so fun to watch how the pictures have changed since that first week we brought her home. The picture below is when she was 19 months old.
